Reports to: Director of Labor Action

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the performance of administrative functions primarily in support of the Division of Labor Action. Works cooperatively with other Division Assistants and Associate Directors within the Division and is directly responsible to the Division Directors and as appropriate the Executive Assistant/Operations Manager. The salary range for this position is $48,959  – $51,408.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicates in writing, by telephone and through personal contact with individuals and groups.
  • Types, edits, proofreads, and operates office equipment related to the functions of the Division of Labor Action.
  • Maintains records/files and recommends changes and/or revisions for the improvement of the operation of the Division. 
  • Recommends time/energy/money saving procedures.
  • Maintains competency on all data management and word processing/computer skills.
  • Keeps current and accurate local unit facility lists and updates MNA database with committee changes.
  • Cooperates to ensure adequate receptionist coverage.
  • Organizes/reorders assigned work and establishes appropriate priorities.
  • Maintains word processing/computer skills.
  • Staff division-run events to support on-site activities, including registration.
  • Maintain all legally required notifications including but not limited to negotiation reopener letters, picketing and strike notices.
  • Ability to help members with questions related to the Division and direct as needed to the appropriate staff for assistance.
  • Ability to edit and update member contact information in the MNA database a related to the Division of Labor.
  • Other activities as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Three or more years of relevant experience.
  2. Previous experience in a Labor Organization preferred.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite. 
  4. Excellent written and verbal skills with spelling/grammar competencies.
  5. Excellent organizational and planning skills, detailed oriented and strong time management skills.
  6. MUST be able to function with minimal direction with ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  7. Previous experience in a member organization, specifically labor organization, desirable.
  8. Able to travel, on occasion, as work duties require.
