Membership Associate

About Us:
The Connecticut Education Association (CEA) is a dedicated educators’ labor union whose mission is to champion educators, students, and public schools. We have been a leading voice for teacher professionalism and school improvement since our formation in 1848.
CEA is seeking a Membership Associate responsible for supporting membership operations, maintaining membership data integrity, and assisting with membership engagement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate membership processing, supporting local affiliates, and strengthening membership growth and retention efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Membership Operations & Data Management
- Maintain CEA membership files and administer membership processing, including enrollments, renewals, changes, and cancellations
- Coordinate with the National Education Association (NEA) membership and data processing staff to ensure accuracy and continuity of membership data
- Monitor and maintain membership records, ensuring data accuracy and completeness
- Proactively identify and correct data discrepancies through regular data audits and cleanup efforts
- Track membership withdrawals, drops, and status changes, ensuring appropriate documentation and communication
- Assist with bargaining unit audits and send quarterly roster reminders
- Update and track local dues changes
Membership Support & Engagement
- Provide membership support to UniServ representatives, local associations, and membership chairs
- Respond to inquiries related to membership processing, status, and counts
- Communicate membership policies, procedures, and updates to members and staff
- Assist in identifying and pursuing potential members to support membership growth
- Provide special services information and support to members and local associations
Report & Training
- Generate membership reports and fulfill membership data requests
- Train staff and local leaders on NEA 360 functions, including reporting and search capabilities
- Participate in membership-related trainings, including Summer Conference, Membership Chair, and Treasurer training
- Create and revise training materials such as handbooks and calendars
Membership Materials & Coordination
- Coordinate ordering of membership enrollment and renewal materials from NEA
- Prepare and distribute membership materials to UniServ offices and local associations
- Assist with CEA Representative Assembly (RA) delegate registration coordination
Administrative Support
- Support membership-related administrative functions
- Maintain membership-related documentation and procedures
- Assist assigned committees and working groups as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of CEA membership structure and eligibility requirements
- Experience working with membership databases or data systems
- Understanding of payroll deduction and dues processes
- Familiarity with union or membership-based organizations
- Strong organizational and data management skills
- Experience with reporting tools and database cleanup best practices
- Ability to interpret and communicate membership policies and procedures

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Pay and Benefits:
The salary range is $67,065 – $85,946 commensurate with experience and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) and pension plan; 16 paid holidays; as well as vacation and sick time.
