Job Title: Data Specialist
Classification: Temporary at-will employment (non-union)
Duration: No more than a one-year period
Supervisor: Organizing and Field Service Director
Location: Remote position within Florida 

The Florida Education Association (FEA) is the largest association of professional employees and the largest labor union in the Southeast, representing more than 120,000 members. FEA members include teachers, education staff professionals, higher education faculty and graduate assistants, retirees, education students, and early career educators. FEA represents the professional and working interests of its members and plays a prominent role in shaping state policies that affect public schools. FEA is a merged state association affiliated with both the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Data Specialist – Membership Services is responsible for maintaining accurate membership records, supporting dues processing, and providing direct assistance to members, local units, and service teams. This role combines data management with member outreach to ensure timely resolution of dues-related issues and accurate reporting across systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; high school diploma required
  • Demonstrated competence in oral and written communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and drive projects independently.
  • Successful experience multi-task under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong skill in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Ability to learn new, proprietary software programs.
  • Capacity to work closely with other staff.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Experience in working in Association or labor union environment highly desired.
  • Must be able to pass background check.
  • Multilingual skills are highly desired

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Contact members to resolve dues payment issues, including returned payments (NSFs), declined transactions, and billing discrepancies. 
  2. Provide timely, professional support to members regarding account status, payment options, and enrollment questions. 
  3. Accurately enter, update, and maintain membership data within the CMS (Customer Management System).
  4. Monitor and reconcile dues payment records to ensure data accuracy and completeness. 
  5. Generate and analyze membership and dues reports for internal teams and leadership.
  6. Maintain up-to-date records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with organizational standards. 
  7. Support membership enrollment processes for local unions and service units. 
  8. Collaborate with internal teams to address data discrepancies and improve processes. 
  9. Track outreach efforts and maintain documentation of member interactions.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the OFS Director or designee. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  3. Perform all work assignments in a manner that effectively and efficiently utilizes FEA resources.

  5. interdepartmental programs and services.
  6. Perform all duties, responsibilities, and assignments within the guidelines outlined in the
  7. FSO/FEA Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with FEA Policies and Procedures.

Other Requirements Maintain a working internet service of at least 500 Mbps.

Compensation & Benefits: This position is eligible for up to 4% of annual salary 401(k) match and medical health insurance and will receive an internet allowance. Competitive salary based on experience.
