Labor Representative / Organizer

Based in San Jose, CA

 

RNPA represents more than 4,000 Registered Nurses employed by the County of Santa Clara and is committed to advancing the professional, economic, and workplace interests of public‑sector nurses. We seek an experienced and passionate Labor Representative/Organizer to help build power, strengthen workplace rights, and support nurses as leaders in the fight for safe staffing, fair compensation, and high‑quality public healthcare.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organize workplace campaigns and build strong member participation.
• Recruit, train, and develop rank‑and‑file leaders and stewards.
• Represent members in negotiations, labor‑management meetings, grievances, and arbitrations.
• Ensure employer compliance with contract and labor law.
• Engage members in political and legislative advocacy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years as a union representative or organizer (healthcare/public sector preferred).
• Proven success in organizing, leadership development, negotiations, and contract enforcement.
• Strong communication and strategic planning skills.
• Knowledge of CA labor law; bilingual abilities a plus.

SALARY & BENEFITS

• $105,000 – $188,000, based on experience.
• Comprehensive health, dental, vision; retirement; generous vacation.
