Schedule: Full-time - Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Salary Range: $87,800.00 to $110,500.00/ year(depending on experience)
Work Arrangement: In-Office

Job Summary:
UDW seeks a Contracts Manager to manage and maintain the unions contract information systems and ensure implementation. The contract Manager ensures accurate, secure, and up-to-date data and collaborates with Finance and other Departments at UDW to execute the different aspects of our contracts. 

This position is essential to UDW’s infrastructure-enabling efficient communication between the union’s Departments when it comes to negotiations and contract implementation. The Contracts Manager ensures relational outreach with Counties, the State and AFSCME to coordinate access the data, assist with negotiations and implement contracts. 

Contract Management

  • Leading the negotiating table and supporting the field in contract campaigns
  • Working with members and other spokespeople to develop talking points for Board of Supervisors meetings.
  • Training and supporting field staff in contract campaigns
  • Leading and supporting other campaigns needed by local leadership
  • Develop messaging for contract campaigns
  • Maintain UDW’s contract database, including members, volunteers, activists, and supporters.
  • Ensure data accuracy through frequent cleaning, deduplication, and verification.
  • Track updates to member records and coordinate data across platforms.
  • Collaborate with AFSCME Collective Bargaining Department
  • Serves as liaison to the California Department of Social Services and Department of Finance to ensure proper costing and interpretation of State funding.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Outreach Support

  • Produce lists for phone banks, text outreach, email campaigns, and events.
  • Segment contracts by geography, unit language preference, campaign, and engagement level.
  • Work with Organizers and Communications staff to optimize contract strategies

Systems Administration

  • Administer tools and contract platforms used by UDW.
  • Manage data input imports, exports, and integration workflows with field systems.
  • Train UDW staff and volunteers on data entry protocols and best practices.

Reporting & Collaboration

  • Generate regular reports on membership statistics, outreach efficacy, and engagement trends.
  • Provide analytical support for strategic planning across departments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align data efforts with organizational priorities.

Data Security & Compliance

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data security policies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable privacy standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Commitment to building long-term power for working people
  • Strong background in labor and organizing
  • Experience in union, nonprofit, or member-driven organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to write contract proposal/language, write reports, conduct research, make presentations, facilitate meetings with bargaining teams and members, and conduct training.
  • Ability to take initiative, to work with a team, and to handle a fast-paced environment, multiple projects and light deadlines 
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours and participate in all union-wide activities.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with diverse membership and staff
  • Experience in union, nonprofit, or member-driven organizations.
  • Bilingual is a plus

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in union, nonprofit, or member-driven organizations.
  • Knowledge of bargaining county contracts.
  • Willingness to travel and work in different locations for determined periods of time.
  • You must possess a valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and an automobile for business use.
  • Familiarity with outreach technologies (e.g., phone/text platforms, email systems)
  • Bilingual capabilities (e.g., Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean Tagalog or other languages common in UDW membership)
  • Commitment to social justice and building power for workers.

Work Environment: 

  • Standard union office environment with extensive field or campaign support work.
  • May require evening or weekend availability during peak outreach campaigns. 
  • Extensive travel will be required
