SEIU Local 105 is a growing union and represents over 8,000 healthcare and property service workers in Colorado, but concentrated in the Denver Metro area.

ABOUT THE POSITION
SEIU Local 105 is hiring a full-time Political & Community Coordinator to strengthen internal political integration across all departments and to advance municipal and community political relationships. This role ensures the local operates as a unified political organization while expanding municipal and community political power.

This position requires strong political judgment, the ability to convene staff and leaders across departments, and experience navigating political relationships in complex environments. The Political & Community Coordinator represents the local in municipal and community political spaces consistent with established strategy and internal processes.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Convene and facilitate regular cross-department political coordination meetings
  • Ensure political priorities, timelines, and strategies are understood and aligned across departments
  • Translate political strategy into department-specific implications and action steps
  • Serve as the internal point of coordination to ensure the local operates as a unified political organization
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with municipal elected officials, candidates, and key community power brokers
  • Track municipal election calendars, appointments, vacancies, and local political opportunities
  • Coordinate municipal endorsement processes in alignment with organizational political strategy and internal approval processes
  • Represent SEIU Local 105 in municipal and community political spaces
  • Integrate COPE into political planning and execution across departments by coordinating engagement, supporting member leadership participation, presenting at member bodies as needed, and identifying opportunities to strengthen political infrastructure
  • Support legislative and issue-based political work as assigned and within established strategy
  • Translate state-level developments into municipal and organizational implications
  • Support coalition coordination as assigned by the Political Director
  • Participate in union-wide events, actions, conferences, and organizational priorities as needed, consistent with the shared responsibility of all staff to support the work of the local

JOB REQUIREMENTS 
Required

  • Minimum of five years of experience in political, labor, or community organizing work
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining political relationships
  • Strong political judgment and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Ability to convene and coordinate across departments and roles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to motivate, influence, and hold others accountable
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required 

Preferred

  • Experience working in a labor union or worker-centered organization
  • Familiarity with Colorado municipal and legislative processes
  • Experience supporting political campaigns, endorsements, or coalition work
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Amharic 

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Salary range of $90,529.13 to $104,750.65 based on experience.
  • Monthly car allowance of $525
