The State Option UniServ Director and Field Organizer is a West Central Colorado based position. CEA is currently operating in a hybrid environment.
Essential Qualifications:
- Sound professional judgment
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of organizing principles and implementation of organizing plans
- Proficiency in basic computer technologies
- Ability to work in teams and with minimum supervision
- Conflict resolution skills
- Understanding of membership-based organizations, especially unions
- Campaign planning and management
- Time and financial resource management
- Willingness to expand knowledge and skills in a changing environment
- Training and presentation skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Advocacy for membership and organizational goals
- Experience with Pre K-12 and higher education environments, public sector labor relations, negotiations, and member representation
- Independent judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness
- Ability to analyze options and implement corrective actions
- Experience in developing and motivating volunteers and leaders
- Coordination of labor union and community organizing.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the West Central uniserv unit, including overnight trips, to support rural locals.
Responsibilities:
- Train leaders and staff in growth organizing, community engagement, and capacity building efforts.
- Serve as a resource for growth organizing by providing training, materials, and event coordination.
- Engage in capacity building with leaders, members, and staff.
- Provide strategic communication support related to statewide growth organizing campaigns.
- Assist in developing the CEA bargaining program and implementing the CEA strategic plan with local affiliates.
- Create qualitative and quantitative reports for assigned work.
- Collaborate with field staff to enhance approaches to organizing.
- Support local unions in negotiations and the enforcement of collective bargaining agreements.
- Represent members in advocacy, investigations, and grievances; train local leaders in representation skills.
- Work with local leaders to address and resolve workplace issues and execute local organizing campaigns.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a bargaining unit position with a salary range of $75,000 – $156, 000 based on prior experience and qualifications. A fringe benefits package is provided as defined in the CEASO Collective Bargaining Agreement including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan and paid leave.
