Position – Staff Position in USW Political Department
Location - Pittsburgh, PA based at the USW International headquarters

Largest industrial Union in North America seeks experienced and creative campaigners interested in supporting membership mobilization efforts around elections. 

The USW Political department is responsible for developing and coordinating programs that build membership solidarity in support of elected allies who advance pro-union, pro-worker policy. 

This position involves: 

  • Managing all aspects of the USW Political Action Committee (PAC) tracking system and database. 
  • Creating monthly PAC activity reports for leadership. 
  • Supporting PAC drives with hands-on assistance in fundraising at various union functions. 
  • Tracking and providing status reports of strategic giving to elected allies. 
  • Supporting field efforts as needed (launch canvasses, implement field program goals, support release staff carry out field tactics, etc.).
  • Analyzing, interpreting and manipulating data in Labor Action Network (LAN). 
  • Assisting department leadership with trainings, event logistics and release staff onboarding.
  • Conducting research and writing for department publications. 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow protocols for approvals and work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Highly motivated and committed to the goals of the labor movement. 
  • Background in campaign work.
  • Strong communication, research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as keep track of and complete projects.
  • Aptitude in Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Experience with the Labor Action Network (LAN) or Voter Action Network (VAN) and other campaign technologies. 
  • Experience with managing aspects of PAC recordkeeping. 
  • Ability to work with diverse groups effectively in both a team environment and independently. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Occasional work travel will be required, particularly during the campaign season. 
  • Willingness and ability to work irregular hours, including weekends, when necessary.

Salary - Salary range is $68,000 – 90,000, with placement on the range commensurate with experience. This is a bargaining unit position. Generous benefits with all premiums paid by the employer including healthcare, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
