JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking to hire a temporary Organizer in the Family Child Care department through 12/31/2025, with a strong possibility of extension. The organizer will work toward strengthening membership by attending new provider orientations, doing follow up, and training member leaders to do orientations. Work will be 37.5 hours a week and may include evenings and Saturdays.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
- Attend orientations and sign new members
- Follow up with new educators and members that attended orientation
- Train member leaders to do union pitch during orientations
- Identify and develop new member leaders
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with organizing 509 members helpful
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (listening and speaking)
- Strong technology skills (Google Apps, email, web-based apps, database usage)
- Strong commitment to the labor movement
- Ability to work both independently and part of a team, particularly with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities at the same time, be proactive and maintain flexibility, adaptability, and demonstrate a willingness to learn
- Possession of an insured, registered vehicle and a valid driver’s license
- Bilingual preferred (With priority preference for Portuguese/English candidates)
Supervision Received:
Reports to Family Childcare Coordinator
Supervision Exercised:
May supervise interns directly; may provide functional supervision for other employees or members on per diem.
Salary & Benefits
Effective 1/1/25: $88,426 – $100,172 depending on experience/qualifications with excellent benefits.
