Temporary Membership Assistant
Based in St. Paul, MN
POSITION TITLE: Temporary Membership Assistant
LENGTH OF TERM: 9 months with the possibility for extension
DEPARTMENT: Membership
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Data and Technology
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, review for accuracy, and send out certified letters to new hires and delinquents and forwards necessary terminations to employers
- Maintains records of membership dues for payroll deduction, direct pay, and credit card payments
- Responds to emails and phone calls from union members with diplomacy and knows when to refer calls to their supervisor
- Edits, enters, controls, and maintains membership records, guaranteeing data integrity and consistency
- Processes files and reports efficiently and accurately through UnionWare
- Position hours are 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- Knowledge of labor unions
- Mastery of database management and/or billing systems such as UnionWare
- Advanced proficiency with computers and Excel
- Advanced experience with mail merge
- Ability to utilize databases or programs to compare lists and mass update records
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and to diligently input data into database
- Highly organized, detail-oriented individual with critical thinking skills required
- Ideal candidate will have a collections background and is comfortable with tense or sensitive conversations
- Membership Assistant routinely answers phone calls and e-mails from individuals who are questioning their bills, so Membership Assistant must be prepared to explain the mathematical calculations to the individual and design payment plans with the individual
- Applicant must be comfortable with calculating refunds and billing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact
Salary: Salary range is $50,315 – $91,541 with initial placement on the wage scale depending on experience and qualifications. Step increases per collective bargaining agreement.
