Salary Range: $139,604.00 - $198,321.00
POSITION EMPHASIS: The position supports the NEA’s strategic objective to focus the energy and resources of its members on promoting public education by providing management, direction, and coordination for all aspects of Year-Round Organizing in the Center for Organizing and Affiliate Support.
Responsibilities:
- Drives data-driven and continuous membership growth and recruitment enterprise-wide through NEA’s Year-Round Organizing Campaign.
- Drives proactive Autopay conversion campaigns in partnership with relevant partners across the NEA.
- Expands the capacity of affiliates to develop rank-and-file Member Organizer programs that build capacity and grow the union.
- Aligns NEA technology and tools that build our enterprise-wide capacity and reduce per-member acquisition costs, including Join Now/NEA360, Surround Sound, and Telephonic Organizing.
- Assists in aligning and developing data-driven criteria across C4OAS that targets, oversees and evaluates C4OAS grants and field staff support to affiliates.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships across NEA and state and local affiliates to advance NEA’s mission, vision and strategic goals – with a primary focus on membership growth and campaign implementation.
- Drives the creation of an organizing culture across the enterprise that centers membership growth and power-building to win on issues of concern to members and potential members.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, and support to affiliates in the development and implementation of strategic organizing plans- especially new organizing directors
- Serves as a point of contact for state organizing contacts in navigating NEA programs and support, and in advising other NEA Centers on aligning their work to drive organizing.
- Partners with assigned NEA Governance, Think Tanks, and Committees to provide strategic guidance and recommendations on policy and bylaw changes that advance a culture and practice of organizing.
- Manages assigned staff, including developing and evaluating performance expectations and supporting ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant graduate degree and/or certification preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
- Ability to manage complex relationships at the council, state, local, and national levels with elected leaders, members, staff, and management that lead to transformational change and growth.
- Familiarity with NEA’s membership categories used to devise national organizing campaigns.
- Demonstrated success in managing and leading national organizing programs across membership categories with data-driven accountability.
- Success in managing staff and leading both NEA and SEA interdisciplinary teams to holistically drive an organizing culture that can deliver on the association's strategic priorities.
- Ability to develop and execute nationally coordinated campaigns that dynamically align to local and state affiliate priorities in order to meet scale.
- Demonstrated personnel management expertise; the ability to delegate responsibly, prioritize work activities, monitor progress, coach towards success, and ensure accountability.
- Leadership skills, including the ability to think strategically and facilitate dialogue for shared results.
- Effective skills in project planning and financial management.
- Ability to execute program deliverables prior to established deadlines.
- Ability to travel extensively (approximately 100 to 120 overnights per year).
