About Us
The North Valley Labor Federation is a partnership of over 60 unions representing more than 100,000 union members in Merced, Mariposa, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, San Joaquin, and Calaveras Counties. Our mission is to grow and strengthen the labor movement and build power for working people in the North San Joaquin Valley.

Hours
This is a full-time position, on average 40 hours per week (work hours often include some evenings and weekends).

Compensation
Salary will be commensurate with level of experience, with a minimum of $68,640 per year, plus health and retirement benefits.

Location
Our offices are in Modesto and Stockton. Staff regularly travel throughout the Northern San Joaquin Valley region and occasionally beyond for meetings and events (with mileage and meal reimbursements for extended travel). This position also allows for regular opportunities to work remotely.

Representation
This position is a union job covered by a collective bargaining agreement with PNWSU Local 209.

Job Description
The NVLF is hiring an Organizer to join our team and work on a wide range of projects and campaigns with frequent opportunities to learn new skills and make meaningful contributions to strengthening the labor movement and building worker power. Job duties may include the following:

  • Organizing in support of a wide variety of worker collective actions including strikes, rallies, new union organizing campaigns, legislative and political advocacy, wage theft and worker safety campaigns, and affiliate collective bargaining campaigns
  • Working as part of a team to run our electoral field campaign in support of labor endorsed federal, state, and local candidates
  • Supporting NVLF and affiliate legislative advocacy and campaigns
  • Building engagement and participation in NVLF meetings, trainings, and events
  • Working in coalitions and building relationships with with labor and community partners
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the mission of the NVLF

Qualifications
This position is open to applicants with different levels of experience, including those beginning their career in the labor movement. The ideal candidate will:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be passionate about the mission of the labor movement and focused on doing impactful work that builds power for working people
  • Be self-motivated, able to work independently, and interested in continually learning new skills
  • Have experience in organizing and/or field campaigns or a strong desire to learn these skills 
  • Have a driver's license and access to reliable transportation to be able to travel as needed throughout the NVLF’s six county jurisdiction
  • Be comfortable with commonly used technology (for example: Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Email, and Social Media)
  • Fluency in Spanish, Punjabi, Tagalog, Hmong or other commonly spoken languages in the Central Valley is a plus but not required
