We believe we are in the midst of three intersecting global crises: 1) The climate emergency is worsening droughts, wildfires, and other extreme weather events at a scale that threatens the very foundations of societal stability; 2) Exponential AI breakthroughs pose an existential threat to jobs and the economy and risk further concentrating wealth and accelerating inequality if left unchecked; 3) In the US, we are witnessing democratic erosion and threats to our longstanding democratic institutions, mirroring trends towards authoritarianism across the globe
Big Tech has an outsized role at the intersection of these existential crises and the unchecked power of Big Tech’s dominance gives its executives immense power to impact climate pollution, AI development, workers’ rights, and normalizing fascism.
