Organizer
Based in Springfield, MA
UFCW Local 1459 is seeking an entry level Organizer to recruit new members and build power for working people. As a labor organizer, you will also develop member leaders; work on collective bargaining & contract administration as assigned and build political coalitions that increase justice and equity for working people.

Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate has at least two years of experience working independently on organizational and representational issues, developing member leaders. With a history of success in the following areas:
- Organizing new units, recruiting and activating members.
- Working collaboratively with elected leaders to achieve solid standards for our members and communities.
- Promoting member activism and an organizing approach to contract administration.
- Must be a self-starter, assertive/outspoken. Must be able to take rejection and remain calm in difficult situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and be able to take regular directions and learn from experienced staff.
- Willingness to periodically work long, irregular hours, including mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Periodic travel necessary.
- Lobbying and political action.
- Motivation for continual self-development and education.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.

This is a union position. Base compensation for this position is $50,000 plus a generous benefits package including but not limited to 14 holidays, 401k, pension, medical, dental and vision insurance, following completion of a 6-month probationary period, a vehicle will be provided, bonus and more.
