Summer Organizing Fellowship
Solidarity Academy

Job Type: Full Time, Temporary.
Purpose of Position: The Solidarity Academy is an immersive, 12-week fellowship program for emerging organizers who are ready to develop advanced skills and contribute to real campaigns for worker justice. As a continuation of the Movement Builders Bootcamp, this program offers hands-on experience working alongside experienced organizers at Missouri Workers Center. Organizing Fellows will develop fundamental organizing skills, learn about the history of race and class in America through the lens of the labor and civil rights movements, and contribute to ongoing worker campaigns in St. Louis. Upon completion of the program, exceptional fellows may be invited to continue their development through a nine-month Organizer-in-Training Residency with Missouri Workers Center.
Movement Builders Bootcamp
The Movement Builders Bootcamp is a separate, public event May 17th - 18th. Applicants to the Solidarity Academy are strongly encouraged to attend, and those who do will be given preferential consideration for the Solidarity Academy paid fellowship. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
To develop skills necessary to become a successful community and workplace organizer by:
- Studying the history of social movements in America and how our economy and politics have been shaped by race and class.
- Learning and practicing the skills needed to identify and develop low-wage worker leaders.
- Assisting workers to take collective action and win advancements around workplace and community issues.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
No prior organizing experience is required, however, the following will be necessary:
- A commitment to building a multi-racial workers movement.
- The ability to be on time and work irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.
- A commitment to deep listening, to mastering organizing conversation skills, and to receiving and incorporating feedback from the organizing team.
- Detail-oriented and able to carry out plans with direction from the state coordinator in a timely and effective manner.
- The ability to make and execute a weekly work plan.
- Sharp communication, writing, and computer skills.
- Willingness to travel on occasion.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver's license, auto insurance, and an automobile for fellowship participation.
Compensation: $1000/week + $75 monthly cell phone stipend.
Duration: 12 weeks (June 9 - August 29, 2025)
