Special Project Manager
Based in Seattle, WA
Office and Professional Employees International Union Local 8 seeks applicants for a 25-30 hour per week temporary Special Project Manager. This contract position reports to the Local 8 Business Manager and is based out of the Seattle office. The current contract term is three (3) months.
OPEIU Local 8 is a progressive, growing union representing over 9,000 administrative, professional, human services and health care employees in the private and public sectors throughout Washington State.
The successful candidate MUST HAVE THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of labor union structure and values.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage with a diverse array of Union members, staff, and vendors with a positive and professional energy.
- Computer proficiency including the Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with database and data management preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within the context of a plan.
- Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with short deadlines.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and assign priority.
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Coordinate development and implementation of new Local 8 database, working with vendors and Local 8 staff to keep project moving forward
- Document database processes as they are developed for future staff training and reference.
- Support and coordinate training needs of staff as part of implementation of new database.
- Keep the Business Manager informed on the status of the Database project and make recommendations to problem solve as issues arise.
- Serve as point of contact for contractor, subcontractors, architecture firm, vendors and other parties involved in remodel of future Local 8 building. Work with Business Manager and other Local 8 staff to provide information to all involved as needed to keep project moving forward and in budget.
- Keep the Business Manager informed on the status of the remodel project and make recommendations or problem solve as issues arise.
- Draft routine correspondence as needed in support of special projects.
- Other duties as assigned in support of building, database and/or leadership transition at Local 8.
This is a contract position compensated in the amount of $2,000/week. It is not represented by either the office or field bargaining unit.
