Bricklayers & Trowel Trades International Pension Fund (IPF) is currently hiring in the Washington, DC area for the position of Sr. Reciprocal Analyst – Pension/QDRO!

The IPF was founded in 1972 and is a defined benefit plan covering 92% of members of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) throughout the U.S.; ensure the retirement security of more than 26,00 U.S. pensioners and beneficiaries. The IPF also provides benefits to over 900 pension and beneficiaries under the IPF-Canada Plan.

The Fund also offers the BAC Save Retirement Savings Plan which offers supplemental security for members consisting of both an Annuity and 401K Plan. Both the BAC Save Annuity and 401(k) Plans have proven track records of assisting members bridging gaps in their finances and improving living standards. Building upon its core mission of ensuring a secure, dignified retirement for skilled Union masonry craftworkers, the IPF strives to deploy the latest technology to administer it’s Plans and adheres to solid investment practices to protect Fund assets. Our participants are the most highly skilled trowel trades craftworkers across the United States and Canada including bricklayers, stone and marble masons, cement masons, plasterers, tile setters, terrazzo and mosaic workers, and pointers/cleaners/caulkers.

The Position:
IPF is seeking a Sr. Reciprocal Analyst – Pension/QDRO to administer the Reciprocity Program and Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) process for participants. Ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private participant data.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reciprocity-Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) and IPF

  • Manage reciprocity clearinghouse platform, including coding participants into the platforms
  • Process incoming and outgoing reciprocity forms and agreements
  • Process inbound and outbound funds and produce reports
  • Update fund administrator quarterly listings and postings to website
  • Monitor, manage, and respond to group e-mail
  • Manage fund administrators in the platform, making sure they have signatory participation agreements
  • Provide interpretation regarding collective bargaining agreements, administrative policies and the reciprocity procedures
  • Prepare and perform periodic mailings/postings from the clearinghouse along with training the participating locals and fund users
  • Maintain administrative files related to reciprocity/pension and QDRO’s
  • Ensures plan procedures and policies remain in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations

QDRO – Qualified Domestic Relations Order

  • Performs research and analyze documents to determine QDRO eligibility for the RSP Plan, IPF – US/Canada Pension Plan Retirees
  • Provide benefits information in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreements, Plan Documents, QDRO policies and procedures
  • Manage and track QDRO – group e-mail and communications, responding to attorneys, participants and ex-spouses
  • Verify all divorce documents from the RSP/IPF applications team(s) to see if they require a 30-day letter to participants and/or ex-spouses
  • Make sure all QDRO’s are plan qualified from the fund attorney
  • Make sure the funds are correctly split within the platforms as needed
  • Ensures plan procedures and policies remain in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Research, problem solve and respond to individuals regarding benefit inquiries
  • Other duties, projects and/or tasks assigned

Skills & Other Requirements:

  • Prior experience in benefit processing
  • High level of customer service experience
  • Excellent communications skills inclusive oral, writing and verbal
  • Excellent research, analysis and organizational skills, including attention to detail
  • Must have thorough knowledge of MS Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience with pension plan administration
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation or similarly situated credentials
  • Experience/knowledge of legal procedures
  • Fluent Spanish Speaker

Salary Range: $70,000.00-$80,000.00

Schedule: Monday to Friday (in-office with minimal telework)
