New York Professional Nurses Union

Associate Executive Director

Based in New York City / Upper East Side, NY

The New York Professional Nurses Union (NYPNU) was established more than 40 years ago out of a desire by the staff nurses at Lenox Hill Hospital to have a union that truly spoke to their needs and advocated for nurses and patient safety. We represent the RNs, and some NPs and PAs, at Lenox Hill Hospital; Manhattan Eye, Ear, Throat Hospital; and Greenwich Village Hospital.

Are you ready to take the fight for nurses’ rights and patient safety to the next level? • Inspire & manage–supervise a team of three and empower members.
  • Strengthen member power–develop and execute engagement strategies that build union strength.
  • Leverage data & insights–analyze trends to enforce the contract and improve strategies.
  • Educate & Train–develop and lead workshops for members and staff.
  • Communicate effectively–craft compelling messages for leadership, members, and the public.
  • Champion nursing and labor rights–advocate for safe staffing and stronger standards.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to carry out the responsibilities outlined above
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience
  • A seasoned labor professional with a minimum of 5 years of senior-level experience in contract enforcement, administration, internal organizing, and power-mapping.
