Assistant Business Representative
Motion Picture and Television Department

Based in our National / Eastern Region office in New York City, NY

 

Job Description: United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Business Representative in the Motion Picture and Television Department.

This position reports to the Business Representative for Motion Pictures and Television and facilitates the field work of the department, including the intake, tracking, and dissemination of information and data gleaned from site visits. The Assistant Business Rep also tracks bond deposits and assists in the compilation of information required to process contract violations such as remittance reports, monthly benefit reports, and timecards. This position requires significant contact with the membership as well as detailed data entry. The position is based in our National/Eastern Region general office in New York City.

Description of Duties:

  • Plan and track the site visit schedule, communicate with members, and join site visits
  • Develop a Site Visit Go Kit & Checklist, including but not limited to handouts, method of pacing visits, QR codes, etc.
  • Assist with the intake, tracking, and dissemination of information and follow up related to site visits and member needs
  • Maintain and track bond deposits as well as develop an internal protocol for timely follow up of payroll deposits in progress
  • Compile contract violation information and track data, including missing documents and remittance reports
  • Review monthly benefit reports from the National Benefit Funds
  • Aide organizing efforts as necessary, including boots on the ground for strike lines and stand-downs
  • Assist the Business Rep for Safety with upkeep and organizing of New York Production Locals Safety Database
  • Keep Microsoft SharePoint files up to date and organized for the department
  • Research and information gathering as needed

Skills Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of computer literacy and mastery of Microsoft Office Suite required; prior experience with databases preferred
  • Experience analyzing financial data a plus
  • Comprehension of contract language such as benefit, wage, and overtime premium provisions
  • Maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • Working knowledge of Motion Picture industry and/or labor unions
  • Experience working with people from a diverse array of backgrounds
  • Strong attention to detail

The successful applicant will have good language skills both verbal and written, professional discretion, and care for confidential information, mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite, well-developed organizational and logistical skills, attention to detail, proven interpersonal intelligence, and the ability to work with a variety of personalities. Professional knowledge of the motion picture industry and/or labor unions strongly preferred.

The salary range for this position is $65K - $67K plus excellent benefit package including defined benefit pension and generous 401(k) match
