Marketing and Promotions Specialist

The Connecticut Education Association (CEA) is a dedicated educators’ labor union whose mission is to champion educators, students, and public schools. We have been a leading voice for teacher professionalism and school improvement since we were formed in 1848.

The CEA is seeking dynamic and motivated applicants for the position of Marketing and Promotions Specialist. This position reports to the Director of Communications and Member Benefits and is crucial in spearheading marketing and promotional efforts, securing sponsorships and grants, supporting foundation fundraising initiatives, and enhancing/promoting member benefits for CEA and the National Education Association (NEA).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Sponsorships: Identify and secure funding by approaching businesses and individuals for event sponsorship and donations.
  • Member Benefits Promotion: Develop and implement marketing strategies to enhance NEA and CEA member benefits; attend member events to promote available benefits. Writes, designs, and distributes monthly digital newsletters to members.
  • Event Promotion: Collaborate with the event planner to promote events and activities that generate donations and raise organizational/brand awareness.
  • Communication Support: Create and execute communication campaigns aimed at securing donations and sponsorships. Writes, designs, and distributes monthly digital newsletters to members.
  • Volunteer Recruitment: Recruit volunteers to support organizational initiatives, events and organizing campaigns.
  • Digital Marketing: Develop and manage large-scale digital messaging through platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, EveryAction, social media, Hustle, and VAN. Monitor and review the impact of promotional and organizing campaigns.
  • Social Media Support: Develop appropriate outreach materials, including visual products such as memes, flyers, reels, and videos.
  • Communication Organizing Support: Provide communication support for CEA, the Connecticut Education Foundation (CEF) and statewide organizing initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing support to CEA and CEF in marketing, promotions, sponsorship procurement, and collateral development.
  • Cultivate relationships with supporters to maintain regular donations and identify new supporters/revenue.
  • Identify, develop, and expand member benefit opportunities through outreach and relationship building with local businesses and organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications to finalize formal agreements with current and prospective CEA Member Benefit partners.
  • Develop and monitor/ update the CEA Member Benefits Newsletter, website and/or social media channels.
  • Promote CEA Events, including writing, designing, and distributing the CEA events monthly digital newsletter.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four years of equivalent experience in communications, sales, marketing, fundraising and/or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of communications strategies and digital communication tools.
  • Strong expertise in marketing, promotions, grant writing, and fundraising.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including writing, editing, messaging, and scripting.
  • Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing successful multi-faceted digital marketing and promotional campaigns.
  • Proficiency in running effective digital campaigns.
  • Proficiency in utilizing digital tools for effective marketing and promotional efforts.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, and Google Analytics.

Other Skills Required:

  • Working knowledge of CEA’s goals and objectives as they relate to the assigned program.
  • Ability to continually learn new skills and competencies, and to demonstrate good judgement.
  • Highly proficient interpersonal skills that can welcome, and effectively communicate across, a diverse group of people with varying perspectives.

Pay and Benefits
The salary range is $74,884 to $103,781 based on experience, and as provided for in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Connecticut Education Association (CEA) and the Associate Staff Organization (ASOCEA). CEA also provides medical, dental and vision plans, a retirement/pension plan, and paid holidays, vacation days, personal days and sick time.
