Temporary Union Organizer
For covering Southern California

Our union is a bottom-up, member-based organization that helps professional and technical employees raise wages, benefits, working conditions, and advocate over public policies that impact our professions and communities. With over 85,000 members spread across the U.S. and Canada, we invite you and your colleagues to consider the benefits of engaging in collective bargaining. IFPTE seeks to hire a temporary external Union Organizer for a minimum of 6 months. This assignment could be extended depending on the needs of the campaign. This individual will work closely with a campaign team focused on executing campaigns to assist non-union professional workers to build their Union and win a Union contract.
IFPTE is looking for candidates who have at least 1-2 years of experience organizing and representing workers in the labor movement.
Duties include:
- Assist non-union workers in their efforts to join together with IFPTE
- Train and develop workplace leaders
- Participate in contract campaigns and negotiations
- Support IFPTE & Local union goals
Desired qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A team player who possesses the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to think strategically and exercise a high degree of judgment Insatiable work ethic and drive to help workers win
Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years in union organizing and representation or related experience. Organizing will take place in greater Los Angeles area and beyond in Southern California.
Compensation is highly competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications. The salary range is $110,000 – $123,000 annually, with an outstanding benefits package including 100% employer-paid family medical coverage.
Work can include long, irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. A valid Driver’s License, car, and insurability are a requirement for this position.
