32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country, representing more than 175,000 workers in various industries. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We seek two Field Representatives to help build power for property services members. These Field Representatives will work primarily with janitors who work in commercial office buildings, higher education institutions, and other types of worksites. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Identify the issues of groups of workers and individual workers at work sites.
• Effectively communicate in house calls, site visits, and group meetings.
• Identify and develop shop stewards and/or worksite leaders, and build effective member committees.
• Organize workers to take action on problems at work and in the community.
• Expand activist base of the union by connecting members to a variety of activities.
• Make and execute weekly work plans to support the work of the Union.
• Coordinate rallies, strikes, and other actions.
• Work with Grievance Center staff to ensure coordinated delivery of services to members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
While no one candidate will possess every quality outlined for this position, the successful candidate will bring many of the following professional skills and personal attributes:

• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage and prioritize work subject to deadlines in a dynamic environment, both individually and as a team member.
• Demonstrated commitment working for social justice.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire members to develop into leaders and participate in key union programs including political, representation, bargaining and organizing.
• Computer skills including MS Office/Outlook and ability to learn union tools including field app and database.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Familiarity with internal data and workflow systems is a plus.
• Bilingual in verbal and written Spanish and English is strongly preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• This position is a full-time in-person position that occasionally requires work outside normal business hours, including some nights, weekends and holidays.
• This position is based in Louisville, KY.
• Valid driver’s license and car with insurance required.
• This position requires traveling to worksites and participating in events, marches and demonstrations.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary for this role is $64,883.14 depending on experience. 32BJ offers a full benefits package that includes a fully employer-paid medical, dental and vision plan, for full-time employees and their qualified dependents. We offer retirement benefits, including both a defined benefit pension plan and 401K. The Union currently offers a remote work policy of one remote day per week at the discretion of the manager.
