Job Summary
CIR is seeking a Member Strength Coordinator to implement our systemized best practices that are designed to increase CIR’s strength through membership and COPE organizing, and leadership development programs. The Member Strength Coordinator will achieve this by working with field teams to increase membership and COPE engagement, and enhance existing systems for new resident hire recruitment and leadership development. The Member Strength Coordinator will do so by working closely with our Political, Communications, Data and other teams to support CIR’s national programming and ensure the execution of our practices and systems. This position will report directly to the National Field Director.

What You’ll Do

  • Regularly reviewing membership density, overall membership, and member political contributions.
  • Work with staff and member leaders assigned to building member strength at local chapters.
  • Work with contract campaign teams to ensure that sign-up is prioritized and to win union access within the bargaining unit.
  • Coordinate with contract campaign directors to integrate sign-up and set goals.
  • Under the direction of the National Field Director, oversee CIR’s national programming around new employee orientations, delegate elections, ratification campaigns and leadership development, including staff and member leader training.
  • Coordinate with communications, data, finance and other departments to ensure that member strength is a local-wide priority.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovations and best practices in membership growth and leadership development.
  • Support internal organizing and bargaining teams in applying a Racial Justice Lens to plans, recruitment, and bargaining proposals.
  • Hold teams accountable to member strength goals, including density, membership growth, and new hire recruitment while also being accountable to the success of CIR’s national programming.
  • Work closely with field teams to adjust strategy and maintain accountability.
  • Tracking conversion rates from 1:1 sign-up conversations, new employee orientations, delegate elections, blitzes, and ratification campaigns.

What Makes a Great Candidate

  • At least four years of internal union organizing experience.
  • At least two years as a lead organizer running campaigns for membership growth and engagement organizing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in strategic planning and organizing tactics.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workloads and teams independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate staff, build strong working relationships and hold others accountable.
  • Technological proficiency, particularly with data interpretation and tools.
  • Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with employer/labor relations.
  • Some travel is required.
  • Must have a driver’s license.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for Covid in accordance with CDC guidelines, subject to any laws of the state in which the applicant resides

CIR Offers
Competitive salary ($97,056 – $113,149) commensurate with experience and in compliance with the staff collective bargaining agreement.
