Senior Political and Legislative Representative

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association, AFL-CIO ("NATCA"), the labor union representing federal-sector and private-sector air traffic controllers and other aviation safety professionals, has an immediate opening for a Senior Political and Legislative Representative in its Washington, D.C. headquarters office.
The Senior Political and Legislative Representative is primarily responsible for: (1) assisting with the planning and determination of NATCA’s legislative strategy and policy development; (2) working with NATCA members on specific local or regional issues that might affect NATCA policy; (3) drafting congressional testimony, issue papers, talking points, letters, and other information; (4) educating members of Congress, their staff, and others on NATCA’s position on legislative issues and responding to congressional inquiries concerning NATCA’s position on issues; (5) working with coalitions and other groups to advance NATCA’s legislative agenda; (6) monitoring congressional activity and providing NATCA officers and members with updates on legislative activities; (7) maintaining an online grassroots program for NATCA members; (8) assisting with the operation of the NATCA Political Action Committee (PAC), in compliance with FEC regulations; and (9) coordinating and representing NATCA at fundraisers and in PAC solicitations.
To qualify for this position, an applicant must possess a bachelor’s degree and have eight or more years of federal legislative experience on Capitol Hill and/or relevant lobbying experience. Applicants should have substantial experience in hands-on management of legislative activities, excellent writing and verbal communication skills, and strong ability to work closely with others and under tight deadlines. Knowledge of or experience with aviation issues is preferred.
The salary range for this position is $102,079 to $165,728 depending on experience.
