Inclusion and Equity Coordinator III

The Writers Guild of America West seeks qualified candidates for the Inclusion and Equity Coordinator III role. This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position with full benefits. This is a hybrid position with 3 in office days and two remote days.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Inclusion and Equity, the Coordinator provides organizational, administrative and clerical support to the department. The Inclusion and Equity Department is responsible for maximizing equal access to employment opportunities for protected class Guild members by developing programs and events, providing support for advocacy efforts undertaken by the department and by providing specific services, information, advice and coordination of activities. The department staffs eleven Guild committees and internal programs; attendance at frequent evening and weekend meetings and events is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Administers, develops, implements and coordinates departmental and committee meetings, events and programs.
  2. Assists department Director with follow up on a variety of advocacy efforts, both in-house and off-site.
  3. Acts as Department liaison with Inclusion and Equity related film festivals and conferences including organizing speaker presentations and workshops.
  4. Attends and reports on committee meetings and events, and provides support as needed.
  5. Provides research as needed for various projects.
  6. Answers general departmental and program questions from membership, agencies, management companies, networks, studios and the public.
  7. Prepares correspondence and materials in response to inquiries about various Inclusion and Equity programs, meetings and events as directed.
  8. Prepares routine memos, program reports committee meeting notes and committee event budget requests.
  9. Helps maintain department database and general department network filing system.
  10. Coordinates, as necessary, with various other Guild departments, such as Communications, Membership, Operations and Member Organizing as well as outside organizations, such as other guilds, advocacy organizations, networks, studios, producers, directors and WGAW members.
  11. Attends industry events as Department representative as directed.
  12. Other duties as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in the Entertainment Industry and/or the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion space will be given strong consideration. A strong knowledge of TV and Film writers is also highly recommended.

OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and time management skills; ability to interact positively and effectively with a wide range of people; strong interpersonal skills; and ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment. Must be computer literate in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Access. College degree preferred. Must have a valid California driver’s license and reliable insured personal transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, the ability to lift and carry objects of light to moderate weight, bend, stoop, reach, twist, move arms, wrists and fingers, type, use telephone to place calls, and visual acuity.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to: perform activities on schedule, maintain regular attendance and punctuality and interact with others professionally and with discretion. Must have the ability to multi-task and remain calm and focused under pressure. Must be able to drive a car.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Does not require working near hazardous equipment or machines. Minimal or no exposure to noise, dust, gas, odors, fumes. (If attending meetings off-site, may require some low exposure to work near hazardous equipment or machines).

The salary range for this position is $61,000 – $65,000.
