The Motion Picture Editors Guild, IATSE, Local 700 is a national labor organization currently representing nearly 8,500 freelance and staff post-production professionals located across the country. The headquarters is located in Hollywood, CA with secondary offices in Tribeca, NY. MPEG is the world's premier craft guild that sets the standards for excellence in the post-production industry.

The current successful National Executive Director (NED) is retiring and the search committee of The Motion Picture Editors Guild, IATSE Local 700, is seeking excellent, highly experienced, emotionally intelligent candidates to replace her.

National Executive Director Responsibilities
The NED is responsible for addressing the challenges facing the Guild and oversees all operations of the Guild. These include acting as the chief negotiator of collective bargaining agreements, enforcement of collective bargaining agreements, organizing non-union shops/post crews, finances and accounting, human resource-related issues, oversight of membership services including member training, in addition to communications through the Guild’s magazine (print and digital), social media, and other platforms.

There are 35 staff employees including six Directors reporting to the NED. The NED is under the direction of the Board of Directors and advises and informs organization activities, develops, and implements strategies, programs, and campaigns.

The Guild is looking for a dynamic and energetic candidate able to build upon the Guild’s successful achievements over 80 years and to meet the future challenges head on, including technological changes, on-going modifications to distribution methods and the impacts this may have on Guild members and their work.

Qualifications

• Substantial successful experience as an Executive Officer of a labor union(s).
• Extensive experience and knowledge of the Film and TV industry. Ancillary experience may be considered.
• Experience using innovative strategies to address the challenges facing unions in the Film and TV industry.
• Demonstrated proficiency in bargaining significant contracts and overseeing contract administration.

Compensation
Hiring salary range $300,000 – $325,000. Any future increase is subject to negotiation with the Board of Directors. Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, two pension plans, and a 401(k).
