ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Political Coordinator II, stationed in Charlotte, North Carolina, plays a pivotal role in the Union's legislative and political endeavors. Reporting directly to the Deputy Political Director, this individual collaborates extensively with the Charlotte Organizing team and local labor partners. Their responsibilities encompass a broad range of the Union's legislative and political activities, in addition to bolstering the organizing campaign. While the position entails potential travel, the primary workplace will be the Charlotte office, supplemented by fieldwork to aid the organizing campaigns. This dynamic role is integral to advancing the Union's objectives and fostering strong community and labor relations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Monitor and coordinate legislative and policy reform initiatives affecting the Union, worker’s rights, and social justice
• Collaborate with the Deputy Political Director and local partners on strategic campaigns
• Develop and execute an electoral strategy for local, state, and federal elections, representing the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) at various partner coalitions
• Manage regional activities for federal legislative campaigns
• Organize political field operations, including lobby visits, phone banking, and events for public policy campaigns at multiple government levels
• Mobilize, train and educate new member leaders and activists for legislative and electoral engagement
• Aid in contract and organizing campaigns through rallies, press events, and targeted actions
• Coordinate the Union’s efforts with local labor and community allies

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3 to 5 years of experience coordinating legislative, electoral, or community organizing campaigns
• Ability to design and implement powerful and impactful campaign plans and strategies
• Proven track record in electoral campaign management and field program oversight
• Skilled in mobilizing and engaging communities for action
• Excellent communications skills and experience building strong working relationships with various stakeholders
• Fluent written and oral Spanish preferred but not required
• Flexible availability for occasional evening and weekend work, and open to travel as necessary

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary for this role is $79,509 annualized. 32BJ provides a generous benefits package that includes a fully employer-paid medical, dental and vision plan, for full-time employees and their qualified dependents. We offer retirement benefits, including both a defined benefit pension plan and 401K. The Union currently offers a remote work policy of one remote day per week at the discretion of the manager.
