The Clark County Education Association (CCEA) is seeking applicants for the position of Field Representative. The position’s key responsibilities include contract enforcement, grievance and arbitration handling, representation issues, conflict resolution, labor/management relations, etc. Position requires extended work hours.

Association Overview
Clark County Education Association is an independent education union that represents 18,000+ Pre K-12 licensed employees in 370 schools in the Clark County School District (CCSD) which is the fifth largest school district in the USA. CCEA is the largest educator’s union in Nevada. CCEA provides collective bargaining, contract representation, professional development, legal services, legislative advocacy and political programs to win for our members.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
This position shall work with the Advocacy and Representation (A&R) team. Summary of duties shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Significant representation and contract enforcement in handling investigations, grievances, arbitrations, unfair labor practice charge, other areas of litigation and general effective practices in representation including resolution skills.
  • Meeting with members to assess the extent and nature of their problem/issue and take necessary steps to assist in resolutions.
  • Representing members with School District officials when needed
  • Drafting and submitting correspondence; maintaining documents and files
  • Ensuring that all timelines are met
  • Maintenance of data management or records
  • Promoting the value of membership through face to face, telephone and written contact
  • Promoting CCEA programs and organizing around issues that impact CCEA and its members
  • Maintain visibility with the membership through regularly scheduled building visitations
  • Maintain contact with the membership by ensuring that all member telephone calls and correspondence are responded to within twenty-four hours
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the membership.  This may include, but is not limited to: face to face contact, telephone contact, email and other written correspondence.
  • Building and maintaining a professional relationship with School District Officials.
  • Provide advice and appropriate professional assistance to members.
  • Assist members in securing legal representation in employment matters.  This may include, but is not limited to: conferring with the member to establish the dimensions of the case; conferring with the Executive Director or his designee regarding an attorney referral; assisting the assigned attorney in the investigation process; updating the Executive Director or his designee on a regular basis regarding the status of the case.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Advocacy & Representation or designee.

In addition, the successful candidate will possess knowledge and experiences in the following areas:

  • People oriented with strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Data management skills required i.e. efficiency in computer skills & programs
  • Detail oriented
  • Be task and results driven
  • Effective time management
  • Creative problem solver and good conflict resolution skills
  • Organized in their work assignment
  • Have a driver’s license and a registered vehicle with $300,000 liability auto insurance is a mandatory requirement
  • Willing to work extended hours as assigned
  • Professional appearance in interacting with members and the public
  • A team player working collaboratively to accomplish objectives
  • Working with diverse populations, personalities and viewpoints
