Senior Organizer

The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) is a 400,000-member-strong, progressive, militant union with one of the largest and most diverse memberships in North America. Our members are employed in a range of workplaces, from multinational corporations to small manufacturers and state and local governments to colleges and universities, hospitals and private non-profit organizations.

The UAW is seeking a seasoned Senior Organizer. This role involves strategizing, mentoring, and working closely with a team of dedicated staff and members to support workers in winning their union, first contracts, and building collective power.


  • Conduct broad and intensive outreach efforts to non-union workers;
  • Build one-to-one relationships with workers and establish trust;
  • Identifying and develop leaders to guide and lead their campaign;
  • Conduct individual and group meetings with workers to discuss and plan organizing
  • campaigns;
  • Motivating individual workers and groups of workers to take collective public action;.
  • Work with a campaign lead or campaign director to win an organizing election campaigns for units of 500 or fewer
  • Lead and drive large department or units of scaled organizing campaigns.
  • Willingness to engage with and adopt new organizing strategies
  • Develop campaign materials such as raps, leaflets, and emails


  • 1-3 years of union organizing experience
  • An unwavering commitment to building a fighting, member-led union.
  • Capacity to work independently and with a team;
  • The ability to make and follow through on a work plan;
  • Effective and persuasive communications skills;
  • Basic writing and computer skills;
  • The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • Willingness to conduct house visits and site visits;
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and manage time and priorities.
  • Good listener, strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated track record of winning NLRB organizing elections or contract campaigns at the local or national level.
  • Demonstrated track record of making and following through on work plans and working well in a diverse team.
  • Ability to prep and run effective meetings.
  • Demonstrated track record of engaging and involving workers and members in campaigns that push what can be won.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and extensive travel, if necessary

Successful candidates will exhibit discerning judgment, exemplary people skills, and adept writing capabilities. The ideal candidate is both a team player who can collaborate with an enthusiastic staff and a self-driven individual versed in time and task management.
