New York Professional Nurses Union

New York Professional Nurses Union (NYPNU) was established 40 years ago out of a desire by the staff nurses at Lenox Hill Hospital to have a union that truly spoke to their needs and that advocated for nurses and patient safety. We represent the RNs, and some NPs and PAs, at Lenox Hill Hospital; Manhattan Eye, Ear, Throat Hospital; and Lenox Health Greenwich Village.

The primary role of the Organizer will be to assist our Member Outreach Coordinator (a full-time nurse and union leader) in developing and implementing the contract campaign, executed by our Contract Action Team, up to and including strike preparation for a collective bargaining agreement set to expire October 31, 2024.

The Organizer will provide organizing guidance, feedback and coaching to the Member Outreach Coordinator including, but not limited to developing timelines, preparing materials for the CAT program such as fliers, scripts, spreadsheets, and training materials. Manage call lists and check-ins. Help the Member Outreach Coordinator attain the “30,000-foot view” and develop volunteer leaders.
