Job Description:
The Executive Director is the Executive Officer of the Contra Costa Building and Construction Trade Council (CCBCTC), which includes its Affiliates and 35,000 skilled and trained Union members.

The Executive Director oversees all internal and external operations. He/she is responsible for developing and implementing programs, policies, and practices for the Contra Costa Building Trades which includes helping to formulate and execute all strategic planning for the CCBCTC. He/she will promote effective public relations which includes strong and positive County-wide representation of the CCBCTC. He/she will grow and foster long-term working relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials, and maintain strong working relationships with local, national, and regional Building Trades Councils all with the intent purpose of advancing the interests of the Contra Costa Building Trades.

The Executive Director will function as the lead negotiator for the Building Trades Council on public and private Project Labor Agreements and facilitate to a final agreement the negotiations of successful and effective PLAs. He/she shall have the authority to enforce all agreements.

The Executive Director will staff board meetings, committee meetings, and regional and national conferences, and will encourage and promote an informed membership by keeping Council Delegates abreast of all industry developments.

The Executive Director will supply accurate monthly financials, communications, pertinent emails, and correspondence to the Affiliates and their members. He/she shall report at the Delegates meeting on all actions taken between meetings of the Building Trades Council.

The Executive Director is the leader of the Building Trades Council.

Requirements:

  • Leadership experience
  • Experience working in a Union environment is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Comfortable and adept at public speaking
  • Negotiating skills
  • Setting strategic goals and ensuring the goals are measurable
  • Manage the Contra Costa Building and Construction Trade Council’s assets and liabilities
  • Effective and decisive decision maker that also assesses and minimizes risk
  • Problem solver
  • Honest, trustworthy, and dependable
  • Loyal to the goals and purposes of the Contra Costa Building and Construction Trade Council and the Union movement as a whole
  • Work respectfully and collaboratively with the Office Manager
  • Detail oriented and possessing superior organizational and time management skills
  • Able to prioritize and delegate tasks and assignments
  • Pleasant and agreeable personality that can also take a stand
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Compensation/Benefits/Working Conditions:
A competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered commensurate with the applicant’s experience. The compensation range will be between $150,000.00 and $180,000.00.
