The unionization effort at Alphabet grew out of a long history of organizing from the earliest days of Google. Today, CWA Local 9009 with over 1400 members throughout the United States and Canada, is strong and growing with a visionary goal of organizing every Google full- and part- time employee worker. We are a democratic, member- led union that is committed to economic and social justice. We have a strong commitment to growing and building a cohesive, unified team that advances our Union’s priorities and the work lives of our members.

Job Description:
CWA Local 9009 is seeking an experienced, full-time Organizer to run pre-majority organizing campaigns, train, and support members, facilitate organizational structures and decision-making processes, advise, and run our technical infrastructure. CWA Local 9009 Organizers may be assigned to work on a variety of campaigns working with and on behalf of workers who are interested in joining the union, members who are in the process of expanding membership, supporting members in their quest for recognition; and, in the future, working with and on behalf of members who have won recognition and have a contract or are in the process of bargaining a contract. This position is represented by a staff union.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of accomplishment in the following competency areas:

• Organizing--
  • Organizing/advocating for growth and engagement, required. Experience organizing/advocating under pre-majority or direct-join organizing models, highly desired.
  • Recruiting and mobilizing around worksite, social justice, political and legislative issues.
  • Engaging and developing member leaders.
  • Working understanding of labor law regulations regarding union recognition.
  • Internal/external coalition building.
• Strategic planning--
  • Strategic campaign planning and implementation.
• Interpersonal--
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the abilities to listen, self-reflect and offer constructive feedback.
• Technical--
  • Technical computer and platform literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar platforms.

Requirements:

• Recognizable interest in, and a desire to advance the priorities of the membership and the work of the Union.
• Strong commitment to economic and social justice.
• Ability to travel extensively within the US and Canada.
• Must possess a valid passport and driver’s license.
• Ability to work long, irregular hours.
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Ability to demonstrate self-motivation.

Salary/Benefits/Location:
The salary for this position is $81,490.
