Position Overview:
The Human Resources and Operations Coordinator will focus on assisting human resources administration (i.e. payroll, benefits, hiring & onboarding) and nonprofit operations (i.e. insurance, legal compliance & risk management). The Human Resources and Operations Coordinator reports directly to the Human Resources Manager.
Role and Responsibilities:
Human Resources Administration (80%)
- Working support from the Operations Director, manage all HR administrative processes for all employees.
- Assist with payroll and all payroll-related systems.
- Assist with benefits enrollment and benefits terminations, resolve benefits related issues, act as liaison between employee and service providers.
- Create and maintain benefits information to ensure staff have easy access to resources
- Complete federal, state and local employment reporting requirements
- Assist with the hiring of new staff members including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and orientation, as well as offboarding and other staff transitions.
- Assist with employee performance evaluations and tracking
- Assist with maintaining awareness and knowledge of labor law and assure organizational compliance, including providing guidance to staff and managing organizational risks.
- Continually improve HR practices, including aligning processes with racial justice values.
- Facilitate Human Resources processes
- Research, problem-solve, and make recommendations on complex HR administrative questions that inevitably arise.
- Maintain HR filing systems.
- Assist with regular HR file audits
- Support on other human resource matters as needed.
- Schedule and manage necessary employee meetings and trainings.
Operations Support (10%)
- Ensure appropriate language access to all HR systems, including translation
- Ensure proper ergonomic support for employees
- Support HR compliance in all physical local offices
Other Duties (10%)
- Staff and Team support as needed

Key Qualifications

Beyond that, we are seeking a candidate that has experience in a fast paced environment with an orientation to create impact for the team and projects we support.
Additional requirements are:

- Communication: Effective, thoughtful and compassionate written and verbal communication skills; be able to adapt communication to different audiences and situations; be able to develop clear and concise written communication
- General Management: thorough understanding of finance, systems, and HR
Work Environment / Physical Demands
This position is a hybrid remote/in person role with the expectation to work at least 1 day a week in our office in Oakland, CA. Must be able to work on a computer including sitting at a desk for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation; manual dexterity to operate a keyboard; able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others; able to hear and understand speech, including on the phone; able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Employment Terms: This position is being offered as a full-time position. Preference for San Francisco Bay Area, open to remote placement for folks who can travel to the bay area regularly (6-10 times per year). Night and weekend work occasionally required.
Salary and Benefits: This position has an estimated salary range of $52,000-$63,000. This position is non-exempt. We offer a competitive health benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, and a generous paid time off schedule.
