Digital Organizer

Based in Pennsylvania

 

Position: Digital Organizer

Role: The Digital Organizer implements effective strategies to grow union membership, engage members in collective action, develop union leadership, and win campaigns using digital tools. The organizer should also be capable of having effective in-person organizing conversations to participate in critical campaigns at key moments.

Location: Based in Pennsylvania

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement short- and long-term digital campaigns (email, socials media, and text message) for membership growth, member engagement, and leadership development.
  • Generate organizing leads from members and non-members; follow up on online leads with organizing conversations to drive growth and member engagement.
  • Coordinate with the other members of the home care team to integrate online and offline organizing efforts.
  • Design and monitor metrics, recommend changes and modifications based on metrics, document campaign strategies.
  • Expand union’s digital footprint across the state; monitor ally’s and opponent’s social media for organizing and communication opportunities that might lead to growth.
  • Learn the basics of our organizing model to participate in team-wide membership growth and engagement activities.
  • Performs other duties as required to support the work of the union.

Additionally, an ideal candidate for this role will also be able to provide basic communication support to certain campaigns which would include the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with to the union’s communications team and other sectors to provide communication and media support campaigns at key moments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to draft campaign messages that will resonate with union members and not-yet union members; create engaging content for social media, email, and text message campaigns; prepare campaign informational pieces for distribution or other promotional activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • A demonstrated passion for social and economic justice, preferably 1-2 years of union organizing experience.
  • Commitment to growing the union and our members’ power across the state.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to edit basic video for social media, design and layout proficiency.
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to juggle multiple projects, organize and prioritize, and respond quickly to changes.
  • Sharp attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Must be willing and able to make data-driven decisions and function in an ROI-driven environment with a test-and-learn mentality.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Comfortable with long irregular hours and travel depending on campaign.

Job Requirements:

  • Work is generally performed in a home or office setting with periodic attendance at union actions and events required.
  • Will require flexible and extended hours.
  • Travel in state may be required.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle as needed for travel. Travel is reimbursed under IRS mileage reimbursement rate.
  • Applicants need to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination as per applicable laws.

Compensation:
Competitive salary package of $55,000-$75,000 or more depending on relevant prior experience and placement on experiences based pay scale; includes excellent benefits including defined benefit pension, optional 401K type plan, and fully paid health insurance benefits.
