About the Position

  • Hiring immediately,
  • Full-time External organizer to support an SEIU Local based in Denver, Colorado

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate effectively on a team of organizers and researchers to plan and implement new worker organizing & issue-driven community based social justice campaigns
  • Recruit and develop workplace leaders and committees
  • Work with leaders and committees to educate, agitate and motivate people to action
  • Maintain accurate and detailed information on worksites and track individuals’ information and assignments
  • Gather information for legal action to protect peoples’ rights
  • Encourage participation in political and lobbying activities
  • Prepare and manage work plans, calendars, files, reports and other records

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment to social justice
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively plan and implement work and manage time, as part of a team and individually
  • Willingness and ability to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Flexibility for travel based on work assignments
  • Experience and knowledge of computer programs is a plus (including word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet and database software)
  • Driver's license and reliable car is a must
  • Motivated self starter who is also a committed team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong personal planning and time management skills
  • The ability to work with people from other cultures and backgrounds

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Salary is competitive and flexible based on prior labor or relevant experience and staff union contract. Salary range is $62,000 to $79,000.
  • Monthly car allowance of $505
  • SEIU Local 105 staff receive top notch 100% employer paid premiums for benefits including comprehensive health, dental and vision for employee and his or her spouse, domestic partner, and other eligible dependents. Accident, disability/life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance is also provided at no cost to employees. Additionally, employees enjoy generous paid vacation and holidays as well as a pension plan that an employee is fully vested in after 3 years that provides a good defined benefit pension with no employee contribution that lets our staff retire with respect and dignity. Our generous employer paid benefits package is valued at nearly 40% of an employee’s salary.
