About the Position
The Colorado Jobs With Justice Board of Directors is very excited to invite you to apply for our Executive Director position! The Executive Director is a management position that will work closely with the Board of Directors to set and implement a strategic plan and direction for the organization. They will work with the Board and Staff to plan and implement our campaigns, oversee all programs, raise and track the organization’s budget and finances, supervise the team of organizers, and manage other organizational and administrative duties. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong dedication to protecting and strengthening workers’ rights and the labor movement in Colorado, and who has demonstrated success with grassroots organizing, campaign strategy, fundraising, staff management, and nonprofit administration. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Fundraising: Develop and implement annual fundraising plans, oversee grassroots fundraising, and manage relationships with funders and donors.
  • Financial Health and Sustainability: Ensure financial stability and develop cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism.
  • Organizational Management: Develop annual budget, track revenue and expenses, and perform administrative duties for fiscal health.
  • Leadership Development: Support leadership development activities and recruit and develop new Steering Committee and Board members.
  • Human Resources: Supervise staff and ensure compliance with collective bargaining.
  • Base-Building & Campaigns: Manage all organizers and support campaign planning, strategy development, membership recruitment, and evaluation.
  • Steering Committee: Manage and maintain relationships with Steering Committee organizations and unions, approve agendas, attend meetings, and set membership dues.
  • Coalition Building and Partnership Development: Ensure collaboration and work with partners and coalitions to meet strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's or relevant/qualifying experience in a related field .
  • Experience: At least five years of experience in nonprofit management, including experience in fundraising, staff management, and board development. Experience in labor advocacy or organizing is also preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and manage staff, work collaboratively with stakeholders, and establish strategic direction for the organization.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in budgeting, financial management, and fundraising, including grant writing and donor stewardship.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including staff, volunteers, board members, funders, and community partners.
  • Advocacy Skills: Ability to develop and implement advocacy campaigns, build coalitions, and work collaboratively with other organizations and stakeholders to advance the mission of the organization.
  • Social Justice and Anti-Oppression:. An understanding of the labor movement, regulations, collective bargaining, union organizing, and worker rights issues, coalition building, and social movements; a commitment to the principles of social, racial, and economic justice; and a strong anti-oppression framework, including experience working with marginalized and oppressed communities
  • Cultural Competency: Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity, and experience working with diverse communities.
  • Technology Skills: Strong proficiency in using technology, including databases, email, social media, and other online tools.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Compensation & Benefits
The Executive Director position is a full-time, exempt position with a salary of 80,00- 90,000 contingent on experience. A generous benefits package would mirror those included in the organization’s union contract, including health, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) plan; vacation, family leave, and paid sick days. This position will be a part of the Management Team and would not be a part of the staff bargaining unit. The Board of Directors has a preferred start date of June, 2023.
