Administrative Assistant

Based in North Brunswick, NJ

 

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 456, a Local Union residing in North Brunswick, New Jersey is seeking a committed candidate to perform a variety of administrative, clerical, and other related duties.

The right candidate will be flexible, work well with others, and possess the ability to prioritize and manage shifting responsibilities. You will have direct contact with members on a daily basis and if a problem arises, you should be able to handle resolution in an efficient, friendly manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other related duties may be assigned by leadership.

  • To support the administrative operations of the Union, including all aspects of clerical support, routine assistance to bargaining unit members calling, track membership cards and other related duties.
  • Maintain member database and member paperwork, updating contact information as needed.
  • Set-up and maintain computer filing systems.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as: data entry, copying, scanning, filing.
  • Answers, responds to, and relays telephone calls and emails. Distribute calls appropriately and take messages, as needed.
  • Process mailings and open, date stamp and distribute incoming mail.
  • Prepare correspondence.
  • Assist Business Agents with administrative support.
  • Maintain filing and assist in maintaining office supplies.
  • Communicate with signatory contractors and ensure the signatory process proceeds smoothly.
  • Be a team player who is interested in the work of the union and participate in Union actions when necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a High School graduate/equivalent.
  • At least one year of administrative assistant or similar experience.
  • Ability to utilize a computer with Microsoft Office programs, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as other office equipment such as copiers, scanners, fax, etc.
  • Have knowledge of QuickBooks.
  • Ability to perform duties with neatness and accuracy.
  • Must be dependable and responsible.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with Local Union personnel, members, and general public.
  • Must possess strong motivation skills and honesty.

THE POSITION IS FULL-TIME, 8AM – 5 PM. RELIABLE ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED.

STARTING SALARY:
$50,000 + FULL BENEFITS INCLUDING:
