Associate Labor Representatives

Based in State College, PA

 

Advocating for excellence in education since 1852, Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) employs more than 250 professional and associate staff members. Within this group are approximately 78 labor relations specialists - “UniServs”- who represent and advocate for PSEA members. While many of the duties of our UniServs consist of traditional labor relations duties, including bargaining, advocacy, and organizing, broadly speaking, our UniServ staff work to build strong local associations in order to accomplish the mission of our organization.

PSEA is currently recruiting for an Associate UniServ Representative (AUR) positions in our State College, PA office. These positions are temporary (one-year with the option for a second year) and full-time. The AUR is an entry level, developmental position which may lead to placement in our UniServ hiring pool upon successful completion of our applicant testing process. Associate UniServ Representatives must be available to work a flexible schedule and be willing and able to commit the necessary time to satisfy the demands of the job. A significant amount of work time occurs in the evening and on weekends. Work in this position largely occurs in an office setting with travel to member worksites and other locations.

This position will include training and development opportunities with our UniServs in all aspects of the labor relations process.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, the demonstrated ability to effectively advocate for others, and a strong belief in public education and unionism. Strong interpersonal skills and outstanding oral and written communications skills are also necessary.
