About the Position
Hiring immediately, Full-time Communications Specialist to support SEIU Local 105 based in Denver and Aurora, Colorado.

Reports To: Communications Director

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working with the Communications Director to ensure execution of strategic communications plans across Local 105 campaigns, and maintain an internal and external communications calendar
  • Development and graphic design of print projects, digital and video content, and managing engagement across numerous social media channels. (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok etc.)
  • Assisting in the development strategic communications planning for Local 105’s organizing and political campaigns (planning retreats, strategic documentation, action plans, field communications etc.)
  • Developing member storytelling for internal and external promotion
  • Creating media and communications trainings for leadership, staff, members and prospective members
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of major Local 105 events, especially those that require a media presence
  • Drafting and placement coordination of op-eds, letters to the editor and other earned media placements/features
  • Development and implementation of organizational and campaign email and texting campaigns, including peer-to-peer and mass distribution platforms

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Communications or another related field.
  • 2-4 years of related work experience that would provide for the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Understanding of nonprofit and/or progressive campaign communications strategies
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing digital and social media strategies
  • Ability to think proactively and seize on opportunities to move our message forward
  • Knowledge of paid media strategy and experience creating effective paid media
  • Ability to frame issues for specific audiences and develop effective advocacy materials
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice

Preferred skills:

  • Ability to speak and write Spanish and/or Amharic is preferred
  • Familiarity with unions, the progressive political movement, and/or healthcare policy is preferred
  • Proficiency in the production of digital, print, and audio-visual materials
  • Experience using Adobe Premiere or comparable video production software
  • Experience working with WordPress, VAN, and NGP EveryAction
  • Management and production of photographic/video assets

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary range of $53,000 to $69,000 based on experience
  • Monthly car allowance of $495
