Worker Health and Safety Trainer/Specialist

Based in Washington, DC

 

Georgetown University’s Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor develops creative strategies and innovative public policy to improve workers’ lives in a changing economy.

The Worker Health and Safety Trainer/Specialist conducts safety and health training to workers in the restaurant industry. The trainer will help in the development and delivery of worker training on the health and safety hazards facing restaurant workers, worker's rights to safe jobs, and strategies to improve conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Health and Safety trainings in Spanish and English
  • Outreach to workers in collaboration with community partners
  • Evaluate trainings with community partners and worker leaders
  • Attend meetings with KI OSHA Grantee staff and community partners
  • Strategize ways to grow the program

Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Ability to effectively present information.
  • Experience in giving oral presentations
  • Knowledge of concerns facing low wage workers
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
