Job Title: Human Resources Statistician/iMIS Assistant
Location: Accounting Department, Washington, DC
Shift: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Reports To: Controller

Under general supervision, performs a variety of statistical, clerical, and other duties as assigned by the Controller and/or his/her designee.

To include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Import and export USPS and OPM data files to IMIS including employee and member benefits and dues check off to the proper Local.
  • Import APWU Health Plan data files to IMIS; export data file from IMIS to Voluntary Benefits Plan and membership file for the APWU Magazine to Kelly Press
  • Resolve data file issue with USPS personnel
  • Create and reconcile biweekly DCO file using Great Plains software
  • Prepare, reconcile, maintain monthly Retiree rebates to Retiree Chapters
  • Prepare health plan and associate member rebates
  • Record, maintain and reconcile employee attendance and overtime records using Ceridian Time and Attendance payroll software
  • Enter employee hours for biweekly payroll processing
  • Research and assist payroll tax issues
  • Back up to biweekly payroll processing including data entry
  • Keep track and update bargaining unit step increases
  • Maintain and reconcile USPS benefits including TSP contributions to g/l and payroll records
  • Create personnel, payroll and other reports using Ceridian reporting tool or excel
  • Photocopies, scans and processes documents, as required.
  • Answers and returns telephone calls as well as directs calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in special projects, as assigned.

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years working in accounting with emphasis on payroll and timekeeping.
  • Technical certifications or a technical degree desirable.


  • Ability to objectively analyze problems and suggest solutions in an intelligent and professional manner.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multitask in a stressful environment with specific deadlines
  • Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee records
  • Ability to type 45 wpm.
  • Ability to utilize a computer, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook. Willingness to learn additional software programs.
  • Ability to perform duties with neatness and accuracy.
  • Ability to use office equipment such as copiers, scanners, fax, 10-key calculator, desktop computer system and peripherals, etc.
  • Individual must be dependable with exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Must demonstrate excellent telephone courtesy and have the ability to handle and maintain confidential material.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with APWU personnel, members and general public.
  • Prior accounting, payroll, and knowledge of timekeeping software a must.
  • Experience with iMIS software.
  • Understanding of business processes.

$57,363. Generous benefits package, including health insurance and 401(k).

This is a full-time, in-person position in a staff bargaining unit. This is a non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime pay after 35 hours worked in a week.
