Business Representative for Live Performance

Based in the National / Eastern Region office in New York City, NY


United Scenic Artists is accepting applications for the position of Business Representative for Live Performance. This position is based in our National/Eastern Region office in New York City.

Description of Duties:
The Business Representative for Live Performance reports to the National Business Agent and is responsible for negotiating, administering, and enforcing multiple collective bargaining agreements (CBA), including Broadway, Off-Broadway, LORT and other single employer agreements with theatre, dance, and opera companies nationwide.

The Live Performance team is also responsible for:

  • Grievance handling, tracking projects, and member engagement
  • Track current and upcoming productions under Union's jurisdiction
  • Conduct site visits for contract compliance and safety-related issues
  • Coordinate and support four regional Business Representatives
  • Communicate contract procedures to members, employers, designers, and agents
  • Identify and resolve issues that may delay or prevent contract processing
  • Interface with members, employers, the Benefit Fund, and other industry unions and organizations
  • Create reports based on internal data, as needed
  • Research and information gathering, as needed

Skills Requirement

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in negotiation and strategy
  • Advanced organizational and multitasking skills, including project management of individual and team efforts
  • High degree of computer/digital literacy
  • Maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • Working knowledge of motion picture industry and/or labor unions is a plus
  • Experience working with people from a diverse array of backgrounds and able to work diplomatically and effectively in a team setting
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in theater, opera or dance production, or prior union/labor work is a plus. Training in labor law and other necessary skills will be provided.

The successful applicant will exercise professional discretion and care for confidential information. In addition, they will have proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, well-developed organizational and logistical skills, attention to detail, and proven interpersonal intelligence.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $130,000, plus excellent benefit package including defined benefit pension and generous 401(k) match.
