Help Desk Technician

Based in New York City, NY

 

Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802 AFM is seeking a Help Desk Technician. This person will provide support of Windows desktop hardware and software environment. Working independently, and under the guidance of the IT Director, the candidate will provide a sound and secure information technology environment that supports the company’s business and technical requirements, including desktop hardware/software upgrades, updates, and patches, e-mail, backup solutions, security, cloud computing and policies and procedures development. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing company data and other resources and ensuring data availability.

Other duties include:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, DNS, DHCP, TCP-IP, PC hardware, backups, user and group management, remote access, and general network/information security.
  • Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Office 365/Azure), Adobe CC Suite, anti-virus platforms.
  • Administration of various system access including email exchange accounts, VoIP accounts.
  • Support of the organization’s desktop hardware/software environment (with primary focus on Windows, Microsoft Office, other applications), printers, additional infrastructure components, and business applications. This includes installations, moves, adds, changes, remote user support, and technical problem resolution.
  • Inputting, updating, prioritizing, resolving, and assigning helpdesk tickets.
  • Experience in helpdesk management software and best practices (incident, asset, change, service, and problem management).
  • Ability to recognize problems, respond quickly and escalate incidents and service requests when necessary.
  • Working with key members of various departments, IT staff and third-party vendors to identify and resolve issues.
  • Keeping current with technology updates and supporting company technology standards and images.
  • Managing desktop-related projects, such as software standardization, image creation, and anti-virus management.
  • Maintaining desktop inventory and developing a replacement schedule based on established refresh cycle.
  • Developing and updating documentation for supported systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS desired in a Computer Science, Information Technology field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least three years’ experience in supporting information systems and technology.
  • Understanding of best practices, with respect to security and compliance.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to be proactive, use independent judgment and initiative.
  • Logical thinker and proactive in resolving problems and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with strong attention to detail.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range is $50K – $55K, depending on experience
  • Position is full-time, exempt and at-will.
  • Benefits include medical insurance, paid time off, pre-tax commuter program, 401(k), and defined benefit pension plan.
