Political Canvasser

The SEIU Minnesota State Council is hiring Canvassers to turn out the vote in November and help elect candidates who support working people. Canvassers will knock on doors and make texts and phone calls to voters and talk with them about the importance of the coming election. Anyone with an interest in economic and racial justice and a positive attitude is encouraged to apply. Canvassing experience is a plus. This is an entry-level position and will last through Election Day, November 8.

In Minnesota, SEIU members provide care and support for your family in public schools, hospitals, higher education, nursing homes, schools, in your homes and the Twin Cities’ largest public and private buildings.


  • Knock on doors and make texts and phone calls to voters
  • Engage respectfully and effectively with voters about our Unions for All message grounded in a race-class narrative and make a plan with them to vote by November
  • Record data accurately and in a timely manner
  • Work effectively as part of a team and on your own
  • Take and give constructive feedback
  • Follow guidelines to keep staff and the public safe from COVID and other risks


  • An ability to communicate clearly and directly with other people
  • Experience working on your own, managing your time and being accountable for your results
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Positive attitude and strong motivation
  • A deep commitment to economic and racial justice
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a working vehicle strongly preferred

This is a temporary position paid at a rate of $18/hour, with a cell phone allowance and an Election Day completion bonus. Full-time and part-time positions are available.

This is an independent expenditure canvass, so applicants must not have been employed in coordination with Minnesota statewide or legislative candidates or their campaigns for the last 4 months.

Work hours include evenings and weekends.
