Director of Programs and Administration

Based in the Columbus, OH area


Dynamic and growing worker center seeks a highly-motivated and self-managing director to develop, expand, and administer programs supporting low wage and immigrant workers in Central Ohio. The Director of Programs and Administration ideally has a strong understanding of employment law, immigrant rights, labor, worker organizing and nonprofit administration. The director will support the mission and growth of the organization through program development and administration, fundraising, and assisting people seeking help with wage theft or other workplace issues.

Attorneys and non-attorneys with a demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice are strongly encouraged to apply. Prior fundraising and nonprofit management experience is highly valued. Multilingual skills are highly valued.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Providing direct legal representation and/or securing legal representation through a network of public interest lawyers for victims of wage theft or other employment related concerns
  • Developing and administering education, organizing, and advocacy programs, and advice clinics
  • Representing the organization and serving as a liaison to elected officials, labor unions, civil rights organizations, community partners and national coalitions and organizations
  • Leading fundraising efforts, including researching foundation opportunities, developing and implementing a fundraising plan, preparing grant applications, tracking, and reporting to donors, and supporting grass-roots fundraising efforts, and reporting
  • Supervising the Community Organizer
  • Attending Board of Directors meetings and reporting on cases, programming, fundraising, and opportunities for growth
  • Other duties assigned by Board of Directors

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 3-years of combined prior experience in nonprofit, social service or organizing management, nonprofit development, or relevant legal practice
  • Demonstrated ability to work strategically and collaboratively with a diverse set of stakeholders in a mission driven setting
  • Familiarity with the labor movement and worker centers
  • Familiarity with immigrant rights movements and the ability to engage with immigrant communities in Central Ohio
  • Familiarity with the issue of wage theft and other issues affecting low-wage and immigrant workers
  • Located in or willingness to relocate to Columbus/Franklin County, Ohio
  • Attorneys should be admitted to the Ohio bar, able to waive into the Ohio bar, or willing to take the next available Ohio bar exam
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and strategic planning skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability, interest and passion to work closely in partnership with and in service of diverse working-class populations

Salary Range:

  • Salary $70,000 – $100,000+, depending on experience.
  • Competitive benefits and retirement package.
