Membership and Reception Assistant
Eastern Region

The International Cinematographers Guild, Local 600 IATSE is the largest camera and publicist union in the world with over 9,000 members in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. We are a National Local of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE). Applications are being accepted for the non-exempt, hourly position of Membership and Reception Assistant. This position will be based out of the Eastern Region, New York office.

SALARY:
This position is covered by OPEIU Local 174 - IATSE 600 CBA. Starting rate of pay is $26.23 per hour.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Membership and Reception Assistant position is classified as Administrative under the current OPEIU Local 174-IATSE Local 600 CBA. This position reports to the head of Membership Services for the Eastern Region. The Membership Department is in charge of maintenance of the union’s membership database, processing member dues payments, processing new member applications, creating draft announcements publicizing member-related events and activities, light reception and mailroom duties, and all related functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accuracy of all membership data, both electronic and paper files
  • Track member and non-member union work
  • Answer member, staff and applicant inquiries
  • Process dues, initiation fee payments and payment plans
  • Process new member paperwork
  • Create in-house and in-union draft announcements and publicity for events
  • Light reception and mailroom duties
  • Support reception and other departments as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Work, Excel, Outlook
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop or similar
  • Strong communications skills (in person, on phone and email)
  • Attentive to detail with high degree of accuracy
  • Able to compose correspondence in language and form appropriate to the business world
  • Significant member service experience, including problem resolution
  • Comfortable taking instruction from more than one person
  • Works well with others

PREFERRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree from an accredited college -OR- One year of experience as an Administrative Aid, Administrative Trainee, Clerical Assistant or Customer Service Representative or Assistant.

LICENSE AND PHYSICAL CLASS:
A valid Driver’s License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions. Ability to lift-up to 20lbs

CLASSIFICATION:
This position is classified as non-exempt under the current OPEIU Local 174-IATSE Local 600 CBA. ICG staff is represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU). Employment is subject to the terms and conditions as set forth in the OPEIU Local 174-IATSE Local 600 CBA. Night and weekend work will be required.
