Lead Industrial Organizer
Project Based

Based in the South with willingness to travel


United Steelworkers International Union seeks enthusiastic, mission-driven, experienced, and available lead organizer with experience in industrial manufacturing. We represent over 850,000 members and retirees in the U.S and Canada in a variety of sectors. This position is principally for organizing manufacturing facilities in the South. This position is project based and is not a permanent position (although projects may be added or extended as appropriate).

Pay commensurate with experience. Generous benefits. Applicants must have own vehicle and a valid driver’s license. Applicants may be based anywhere in the South but must be willing to travel.

Job Description
The lead organizer will be responsible for:

  • Synthesizing and implementing strategy on campaigns in manufacturing and other sectors as needed.
  • Supervising the organizing and development of a team of staff and lost-time organizers.
  • Training and mentoring organizers and lost-time organizers in organizing.
  • Directing campaign messaging.
  • Effectively managing lists, charts, and databases.
  • Accurate reporting about campaign status and progress.

Required Qualifications and Skills include:

  • Experience in leading and/or supervising multiple staff, assignments, projects, managing timelines, and effectively using database systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport and credibility with diverse demographic groups.
  • Excellent written and oral communications.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the labor movement.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and travel.
