District 615 of 32BJ, based in Boston, is committed to building a strong Union based on membership participation and leadership development. As an integrated part of the Union, the bilingual Service Center (Grievance) Representative will handle member grievances and work to enforce the terms of collective bargaining agreements in coordination with field organizers and member leaders.

Responsibilities include:

  • Complete grievance intake with members;
  • Review and interpret multiple collective bargaining agreements, identify issues and contract violations;
  • File grievances, investigate assigned cases ensuring accurate assessment of issues, documentation of facts, maintenance of time lines, and enforcement of contracts;
  • Represent union members at grievance hearings and serve as a persuasive advocate for them;
  • Prepare members to present their story at hearings;
  • Negotiate solutions with employers and management representatives while adhering to CBA language and standards;
  • Work closely with field organizers in assigned turfs;
  • Perform various administrative duties.


  • Experience in organizing, legal work or related field;
  • Approach the work with a problem solving mindset and ability to mediate workplace issues;
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and good listening skills;
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage a caseload and process grievances within contractually fixed time limits;
  • Interest in representing workers and working with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • Ability to use MS Office, ability and interest in learning union’s database and electronic grievance tracking system (CRM);
  • Bilingual in written and verbal Spanish and English is required; Trilingual in English/Spanish/Portuguese preferred.

  • This position is a full time position that occasionally requires work outside normal business hours, including periodic Saturdays as scheduled.
  • This position is based in the Boston office.
  • This position requires travel to worksites/employer offices.
  • Valid driver’s license and car with insurance required (if applicable).


  • This position is largely computer/office based, with many in-person and Zoom meetings.
  • This position requires traveling to worksites and participating in events, marches and demonstrations.

The salary for this role is $49,928 to $53,526, depending on experience. 32BJ offers a generous benefits package that includes a fully employer-paid medical, dental and vision plan (for full-time employees and their qualified dependents) and retirement benefits, including a defined benefit pension plan and 401K. 32BJ offers paid time off including three weeks’ vacation, eleven holidays, twelve sick days, and four personal days. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
