Warehouse Campaign Coordinator

Based in New Jersey and the NJ/NYC metropolitan area

The Warehouse Campaign Coordinator will plan and coordinate organizing campaigns in New Jersey’s warehouse distribution center sector for a progressive, dynamic, fighting union.

The Laundry, Distribution & Food Service Joint Board (LDFS), headquartered in Newark, NJ, has a diverse membership of some 8,000 workers including thousands of warehouse distribution center workers.  LDFS is proudly affiliated with the 86,000-member Workers United international and the 2-million-member Service Employees International Union (SEIU).  Join our dynamic organizing team that is helping workers to win in New Jersey and in the NJ/NYC metropolitan area.

The Warehouse Campaign Coordinator reports to the union’s Co-Managers and our Chief of Staff, and will collaborate closely with our Lead Organizer, who supervises our field organizers, as well as with staff and consultants handling media relations and social media.

The Warehouse Campaign coordinator will work to bring public attention to unfair treatment of NJ warehouse workers by large corporations and to link workers’ organizing fights with the struggle for racial justice, fair treatment of immigrant workers, and Unions for All!  The Warehouse Campaign Coordinator will marshal the power of organizing workers, strategic research, and coalition allies to enable workers to succeed and win organizing drives at non-union warehouses in Northern and Central NJ.  

The Warehouse Campaign Coordinator performs a range of duties, which may vary according to the needs of the overall program as determined by the officers.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate a coalition of allies to support warehouse worker organizing.
  • Plan and carry out public actions in NJ, NYC and beyond to call attention to high-profile warehouse operators who refuse to treat workers fairly
  • Coordinate the efforts of media, social media, political outreach, and research.
  • Collaborate closely with our Lead Organizer to:
  • Document worker stories
  • Ensure effective gathering of data on legal violations
  • Expand our contacts among non-union warehouse workers in Northern and Central NJ
  • Run successful organizing drives at non-union warehouses


  • 5+ years’ experience with significant responsibility for worker and/or community social justice campaigns.   
  • A track record of success in moving decision-makers and winning for workers and/or communities.
  • Driver’s License required.  Candidates must either own a car or be willing to lease or purchase one.  
  • Experience working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English required.  
  • Advanced computer skills required.  
  • The ability to travel locally in the New York/New Jersey area as needed and to work long hours and weekend hours when needed.

Also preferred are:

  • Experience coordinating coalitions
  • Experience with campaign research tools
  • Experience with social media campaigning  
  • Spanish language proficiency

The Laundry, Distribution & Food Service Joint Board offers a competitive salary and a full benefits package, including employer-paid health coverage for full-time employees and their eligible dependents, and a pension plan.  Compensation for this position includes a monthly car allowance.
