Position Summary:
The Organizer Manager is responsible for supervision of organizing staff and members on assigned organizing campaigns and projects. This position will oversee daily briefings and debriefing of staff and members to guide successful campaigns, lead skill development of organizers and manage organizing campaigns in coordination with the Growth Team Manager and Field Team Managers.

This position will oversee multiple campaigns or projects at any given time, will work on developing new forms of worker organization and power, and will work with staff, members, and other unions to build a powerful workers’ movement for the 21st Century. This position reports to the Director of the Growth Department.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead a team of member and staff organizers on a wide range of organizing campaigns and projects
  • Manage day to day campaign work of organizing teams
  • Mentor staff and member organizers
  • Manage campaign work in coordination with Growth Team Manager and Field Team Managers as needed
  • Build a positive and engaged organizer team
  • Facilitate staff and member organizer skill development
  • Manage successful organizing campaigns
  • Work in coordination with other departments and to grow our union and the larger labor movement
  • Work with members, other unions and community-based organizations as needed in support SEIU 775 campaigns
  • Assist with communications strategy and message development on organizing campaigns
  • Organize collective actions for members, potential members, and community groups
  • Implement specific projects and campaigns that support the work of the organizing program and further SEIU 775’s mission, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Developed mentoring and facilitation skills
  • Ability to lead an organizing team
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Experience with Excel, Word, desktop publishing and organizing database work
  • Ability to guide strategy and day-to-day campaign work
  • Ability to travel domestically with overnight stays
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Language skills a plus

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of experience leading successful organizing campaigns as a community, field, or labor organizer
  • Strong mentoring and leadership development skills
  • Experience with external organizing campaigns
  • Ability to facilitate small and large group meetings or trainings
  • Deep commitment to social justice work
  • Developed understanding of how issues of racial, gender, and economic justice impact workers, unions, and our communities
  • Collaborator with a demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
  • Experience leading an/or supervising teams of organizers preferred but not required
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours when needed to campaign needs
  • A valid driver’s license, car, and automobile insurance
  • Preferences: Fluency in a second language is plus. Experience working with a labor union, progressive non-profit, community organization, advocacy group, political campaign or elected official is a plus. Knowledge and experience with Salesforce, Microsoft office and teams is a plus.

Compensation:
This position is full time (50 hours/week). Salary and benefits set by a collectively bargained contract; pay ranges from $86,790 – 103,911 per year. Benefits include fully employer-paid family health, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, a generous leave package, an ORCA Transit Card, fully employer-paid pension (defined benefit plan), an optional 401(K) plan (no employer match), cell phone allowance, and other benefits outlined in the policies of SEIU 775 and the staff union contract.
